Last Trip to Disneyland

We had a great time in Disney on our "girls trip." Here are a few pics of the fun.  This will be our last trip to Disneyland for awhile, but don't be sad, it's on to Walt Disney World for us. Yeah!

End of Kindergarten

This year we have been collecting "gumballs" for our "gumball machine" data wall in kindergarten.  Students who have read all 100 kindergarten sight words are going to receive their own gumball machine.  

We have also been reading all the Pete the Cat books and the kids love them!  Our last bulletin board of the year was on a constructed response in math.  Students were asked to show how many shoes Pete and his friends had on while they played in the park.  My kindergartners drew pictures and then wrote a number sentence to show the number of shoes.  As a good-bye gift at the end of the year they will receive this treat of gummie tennis shoes.

Let Me Explain

Ok here's the deal. I have been following all these great teacher blogs and I had to update my own poor excuse for a blog. The new picture is of me with my am class celebrating a full bubble gum jar. When each class has perfect attendance for the day we add a "gumball" to the "jar". When the jar is filled up we get a fun reward. Well, both classes have earned their first treat and we had a bubble blowing contest. The kids like getting to chew gum at school, but what they enjoy more is watching me blow big bubbles and making a mess all over my face. It's pretty fun! Next reward will be an ice cream party with bubble gum flavored ice cream. Unless, someone can give me a better suggestion and possibly cheaper reward. I remember liking that ice cream as a kid. Ice cream plus gum... score!

We are enjoying our free cup of coffee at the local Starbucks in Hutchinson, KS. Last day in the land of OZ.

When was the last time you were in a movie theatre by yourself? Isabella and I are seeing Tron tonight and we have the whole place to ourselves. It feels kinda weird. Like everyone else knows something and we are missing it. Hmmm. You never go out in public and end up by yourself anymore. Vegas is a city with two million people! I'm gonna put my feet up and enjoy it like I'm in the old movie theatre at my parents.
